The More Public, The More Likely Goals Will Be Achieved!

You’re 4 times more likely to attain a goal when made public. Yet, I rarely see big goals declared on social media?

My goals emerge after much soul-searching, and then I may tell my home/work family, but typically, my goals are kept under lock and key. I muse that it is my life, my goal, and ain’t your business.

Often my goals are personal; about some weakness, I have that I want to improve. With all due respect to Berne Brown, I don’t want to be that vulnerable. But I have learned that keeping some goals a secret is wrong. Why?

Publicly affirming your goal forces coherency, creates accountability (the more public, the more accountability), moves you from complacency, past fear and into commitment, and allows others to help.

So, I dare you to find a big goal and go public.

Me first –

3 years ago, I started writing a book called “Hard-Easy”. I cannot tell you the hours spent on writes and rewrites or the release dates set, reset only to set again, collaborators have collaborated, editors have edited, reviewers have reviewed, cover is done, publisher is poised and waiting, and waiting and waiting. Absurd!

The bazaar irony, I have hypocritically not followed my own advice and tackled the hard job of finishing.

I publicly vow to have it out in Q1 of 2020.

Now I’m committed.
