When You Demonize Others, There Can Be No Peaceful Resolution

For some, we no longer see political opponents as misguided or wrong; nope, they are evil. They are dangerous and present a threat to all we hold dear.

We see large swathes of humanity as enemies that have to be canceled, crushed, and eliminated.

Our society has become one in which vicious language becomes vicious action. Many think violence is justified when they feel leaders are failing. Once we begin to dehumanize those on the other side, it's a savage path leading to hate, contempt, and more violence.

We must end this cycle if we are to keep humanity advancing. We should rethink how we deal with conflict and foster more open, candid conversations.

We shouldn't fear conflict; democracy relies on it. It is part of our democratic global story. We have differences, we always have and hopefully always will. Differences should not be ignored and erased.

I propose we start by remembering our similarities. We are all humans worthy of dignity and respect.

Shocked or offended by another's opinion? Take a breath, count to 10, remember they have a right to that opinion. You do not have to compromise your values to authentically listen.

It's time we up our listening skills and really communicate. Let's use conflict to compromise and grow rather than demonize and destroy. Let each of us foster peace instead of violence and work together to advance humanity.

Hard Easy

What if I told you there are two ways to live: Easy Hard or Hard Easy? Would you rather live an easy life now—eat whatever you want, buy whatever your heart desires, avoid the tough conversations that can come with true human connection—and deal with the consequences later?. Or would your life be better in the future—meaning, would you rather be healthier, have financial security,. have better relationships, and have a sense of peace and fulfillment in your life—if you tackled the hard decisions now?
